When creating a job post, many companies find themselves at pains to advertise their vacancies in a way that captures candidates’ attention. With so many brands seeking fresh talent and an ever-growing pool of prospective candidates to pick from, it can be hard to craft a job message that resonates with the ideal freelancer.

Not all is lost, however – all it takes is some careful consideration of how you want to represent your brand on the big recruitment stage. Here are some tried and tested tips to ensure that your next job description will entice candidates with its awesomeness!

  1. Use invitational language

    If there is ever an ideal way to create a hook for candidates, it is by making them feel like they are already part of the team. Perhaps the most effective way to do this besides actually hiring them is by using language that literally invites them to be a part of your brand’s world.

    Think job descriptions that open along the lines of ‘come join a team of dedicated individuals’ or ‘be a part of an innovative workplace’ to enhance that sense of invitation. This way, they become engaged with your brand offering and feel compelled to apply for the job so they can join your team.

  2. Let’s talk about growth and development

    Let’s face it – every job description needs to list the key functions and responsibilities of the role at hand. However, these needn’t take up the bulk of your job description. Instead, focus on how candidates can growth and develop with the company in your description.

    Show how candidates can make a difference through their role, focussing on their potential for advancement and how their achievements will contribute to the company’s growth. This is an exciting and inspiring way to frame a job offering, rather than focussing on the more mundane elements of the role.

  3. Try something different

    In a sea of job offers, you want your brand’s vacancy to stand out from the crowd. One guaranteed way to do this is by doing something that differs from the norm – think interactive and innovative content that compels candidates to explore your job offering at a deeper level.

    You could achieve this by featuring your team in a video or even create infographics that show why personnel love working for your brand. Either way, interactive content will allow you to differentiate yourself from the hundreds of job descriptions that comprise of block upon block of text.
